PARABLE OF THE PENCIL – Pencil story

The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box.

“There are 5 things you need to know,” he told the pencil, “Before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be.”

“One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in Someone’s hand.”

“Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you’ll need it to become a better pencil.”

“Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.”

“Four: The most important part of you will always be what’s inside.”

“And Five: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No matter what the condition, you must continue to write.”

The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with purpose in its heart.

NOW REPLACING THE PLACE OF THE PENCIL WITH YOU. ALWAYS REMEMBER THEM AND NEVER FORGET, AND YOU WILL BECOME THE BEST PERSON YOU CAN BE.

ONE: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God’s hand. And allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess.

TWO: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems in life, but you’ll need it to become a stronger person.

THREE: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.

FOUR: The most important part of you will always be what’s on the inside.

AND FIVE: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No matter what the situation, you must continue to do your duties.

Allow this parable on the pencil to encourage you to know that you are a special person and only you can fulfill the purpose to which you were born to accomplish.

Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot make a change.

IF LIFE IS UNFAIR, “WHO REALLY TO BLAME?”

Sometimes, life seems to be unfair because you put yourself in that situation without even consciously realizing what you’ve done. Do you doubt this is possible? Not so. Let’s say a person who thinks that just because they show up for work, do only what is required, and never volunteer to do anything more even though their own work may be done, and thinks that they should be promoted. In fact, this individual will unlikely ever be promoted.

Or, what about the person that doesn’t have many friends and wonders why this is the case? If they only knew how rude they are, overbearing, demanding, self centered, unwilling to do for a friend but expects every friend to do for them. Doesn’t this sound a litttle like this person needs to take a good look in the mirror?

A lot of times, I have found that those who think life is unfair are the ones who are guilty of creating their own special problems. It isn’t, though, that these people can’t change. Everyone can change for the better if they choose to do so. The best thing to remember, though, is that you can’t change others no matter how much you would like to. YOU CAN ONLY CHANGE YOURSELF.

Now, if someone may say that life is unfair. To me, that is just asking for a pity party.  I will be the first to admit that I have passed opportunities and I have the potentials needed to improve my way of living. I will also be the first to admit my laziness! People like me have little or no motivation to improve their way of life. Sure, sometimes we get motivated to do things to better ourselves, but then the procrastination sets in. “i’ll do it another day”, or “it’s not the right time.” We try to justify when in fact all we are doing is making excuses, lame excuses at that.

As I get older,  I also become wiser ( at least that’s what I know for myself). Having been through all that I have in my life, I have stopped asking “why?” But now I ask “How?” “What?” and “When?” …

“How can I change?”

“What are my goals?”

“When do I plan to achieve each one?”

Change occurs when you want it, not when someone else wants it. Behaviours only change when an individual believes that the behaviours are in their best interest not in your interest.

I believe in destiny, but I also believe we hold our own destiny in the very palm of our hands. With that being said, for those who say LIFE IS UNFAIR, I ASK “WHO REALLY TO BLAME?”
